Yang is studying with Lina Yu at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He has won 4th Prize at the International Violin Competition Kloster Schöntal/Germany (2005), 2nd Prize at the MMS Chamber Music Competition in Shanghai (2006) and 1st Prize at the International Violin Competition in Astana, Kazakhstan (2006). Yang has performed as a soloist in Germany, the US, Canada, Israel, Japan and Poland. While still in music middle grade school, he became concertmaster at the Shanghai MMS Symphony Orchestra.
