23 April 2010. Norwegian Academy of Music. – Kerson Q Xun Leong from Canada is the junior 1st prize winner of the Menuhin Competition 2010, the world’s leading international competition for young violinists.

The 19 seniors in this year’s Menuhin Competition in Oslo, Norway have now finished their first round, and late Monday night jury has nominated the ones proceeding to the semi final.

How it all started...

Robert H. Masters
Robert H. Masters came up with the idea that inspired Yehudi Menuhin to start the Menuhin Competition. In this year’s competition the will take part in the jury for one of the prizes.
 

Delays in the Menuhin Competition

Owing to the disruption in air traffic over Norway and northern Europe, we have decided to delay the opening rounds and Senior semifinals in the Menuhin Competition by one day. This means that the Senior first rounds will begin on Sunday 18 April, and so on.  
 

Menuhin Competition to Oslo in 2010

The world’s most prestigious competition for young violinists will take place in Oslo from 16 –25 April 2010. 42 competitors from 10 countries have been selected to participate.
 

King Harald of Norway to be Royal Patron of Menuhin Competition 2010

His Majesty King Harald of Norway has agreed to be the Royal Patron of the world’s most prestigious competition for young violinists, which takes place in Oslo from 16 to 25 April. This is an honour that the Competition shares with few other Norwegian cultural organisations.
