Xiang YU

Date of birth: October 27, 1988
Nationality: Chinese

Following his early training in China with Qing Zheng and Shisheng Zheng, Xiang is now studying at the New England Conservatory of Music with Donald Weilerstein. He has won 1st Prize at the Bode Cup Chamber Music Competition in China and 2nd Prize at the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition (2006). Xiang participated in masterclasses at leading international festivals including the Ravinia Festival, Verbier Academy, Morningside Music Bridge and Yellow Barn Festival. He has given solo recitals in China, Poland, Germany, Canada, Singapore and the US and performed as a soloist with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and the Young Euro Classic Orchestra.
