Sonoko Miriam Shimano WELDE

Sonoko is studying with Alf Richard Kraggerud and Henning Kraggerud at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo. She has repeatedly won prizes at the Norwegian Music Competition for Youth including two 1st Prizes (2006 and 2008). She has also won second prize in the “Young Musician” competition in Estonia (2009). Sonoko has participated in numerous international masterclasses with leading musicians including Sarah Chang, Ida Haendel, Dora Schwarzberg and Pamela Frank. She has performed at international festivals and as a soloist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Asker Symphony Orchestra, Ung Symfoni (youth orchestra based in west Norway – on Japan tour, spring 2010) and the Estonian Chamber Orchestra.
