Video audition
For foreign applicants from outside the Nordic countries, an unedited videotape of the applicant will be accepted. A responsible person must certify that it is in fact the applicant seen and heard on the video - preferably a teacher. This applies to any of the following programmes of study:

  • 3rd and 4th year ("2. avdeling" of the 4-year bachelor level performance programmes
with the exception of the Opera/Music Theatre programme
  • Supplementary Performance Studies – Bachelor level (1 year)
  • Master's in Performance
only for the Principal Main Instrument/Chamber Music and Improvised Music/Jazz variants
  • In depth Performance Studies – Master’s level (1 year)
  • Advanced Studies for Solo instrumentalist or Chamber Music ensembles

The video will then be taken into consideration at the time of the live audition. It will also be taken into consideration that the applicant has had more opportunity and less trying conditions in which to prepare such a video in comparison with an applicant taking part in a live audition. The videotape may be submitted on one of the following formats/standards: Mini DV (Digital Video Cassette) or DVD.

If the jury decides to accept you on the basis of this video, it will still be conditional upon you taking a live audition on your arrival in Norway, before you can finally be accepted as a student.

If you want to make use of one of the Academy’s accompanists, this should be marked on the application form. Remember to enclose music for the accompanist. The Academy is unfortunately unable to provide an accompanist for the applicants for the master's level porgrammes. The Academy may, however, be able to help you to get in touch with an accompanist.
