This area focuses on musical creativity and renewal, and encompasses creative activity in all genres. The aim of this focus area is to encourage artistic development in which the composer’s and performer’s sound is placed in new frameworks of interaction and collaboration.
Sound production, forms of interaction and innovation
An understanding of music as sound through new analytical concepts and pictorial and technological representations will be central to this focus area.
More specific examples of topics include:
- The relationship between composer and performer, both acoustically speaking and in reaction to new technology
- Interactive works and interactive improvisation
- Application of music technology in music learning processes and development of new playing techniques
- Open expression and performance art
