From 10 to 15 August, The Norwegian Academy of Music is playing host to the second International Realtime Music Symposium, a collaboration between the Academy, the Norwegian Wind Ensenble and the School of Improvisational Music in New York.

Opening of the academic year

All first year students start on Monday 17 August at 9.30. The first two weeks are induction weeks filled with important information, interesting lectures, different workshops and loads of opportunities to socialize. The first week there will be workshops with the ensemble NING in cooperation with the festival Happy Nordic Music Days.
The Norwegian Academy of Music celebrates Bärenreiter's new edition of Beethoven's Violin Concerto with a conference entitled "Interpretive Choices in Beethoven". The conference takes place on 1–2 December 2009
NAM holds major conference on music and mental health

On Thursday 21 January, researchers and practitioners in the field of mental health from all over Scandinavia will gather for a conference on "Music and mental health work with children and young people" at the Norwegian Academy of Music. The conference is being organised by the Centre for Music and Health at the Academy.

The world’s most prestigious competition for young violinists comes to Oslo from 16 –25 April 2010. 42 competitors from 10 countries have been selected to participate. The Norwegian Academy of Music is proud to be one of the hosting organisations, and to be presenting the live streaming of the competition rounds.
Owing to the disruption in air traffic over Norway and northern Europe, we have decided to delay the opening rounds and Senior semifinals in the Menuhin Competition by one day. This means that the Senior first rounds will begin on Sunday 18 April, and so on.
