The Foundation for Student Life in Oslo (SiO) exists to make your life as a student easier. As a student at the Norwegian Academy of Music you can take advantage of all SiO's services simply by paying the semester fee.
Student health services:
The Student Health Service on the University campus at Blindern is only 10 minutes' walk from the Academy. Here you will find general medical services, mental health services (clinical psychology and psychiatry) and dental services.
Student Counselling:
SiO's Student Counselling service provides a team of professional social counsellors, who can advise students on personal, social or financial matters. They also help with the concerns of international students.
Student Sports:
SiO runs four sports centres in Oslo, with excellent facilities including swimming pools, fitness, spinning and aerobics studios, climbing walls, squash courts and outdoor facilities such as artificial grass pitches and tennis courts.
You can purchase an admission card from SiO's reception points.
Kindergartens:
In Norway, having children should not hinder your studies. The Student Kindergartens have capacity for 750 children and are situated close to both places of study and student housing. The main application deadline for admission is 1 March.
SiO also runs the cafés in its affiliated institutions (including the Academy) and the University bookshop. In addition, it administrates the popular Student Housing - apply early if you wish to rent from SiO.
Who runs SiO?
SiO's governing body is the General Board, whose leader is a student with a double vote. This means that student manages their own welfare organisation, set the semester fee and decide what it will be used for.
