The library is an institutional library and our primary users are staff and students of the academy. The library’s collections of sheet music, audiovisual material, books, journals and electronic resources, have consequently been built up to support the academic staff and the students with the resources needed for tuition, research and performance.
The collections
- Sheet music: 60,000 items – including scores, chamber music sets, orchestral/choral sets, complete scholarly editions of major composers’ works
- Audiovisual material: 20,000 CDs (all genres), 1000 videos/DVDs, 12,000 LPs (in store, but fully available)
- Books: 16,000 (music and bordering areas – to meet curriculum requirements)
- Journals: 160 current journal subscriptions
- Electronic resources: subscription to bibliographic, full text and sound databases
Interlibrary loans
We borrow and lend books, journal articles and sheet music through extensive cooperation with Norwegian and foreign libraries
Opening hours during school term:
Monday – Thursday: 08.45 – 19.00
Friday: 08.45 – 18.00
Saturday: 11.00 – 15.00

Databases
Link to Norwegian page with overview and access to subscription databases, available on campus, to a certain extent also externally. Subscriptions include journals databases JSTOR and ECO, RILM Music Abstracts, and reference works such as African American Music Reference, The Encyclopedia of Popular Music, Grove Music Online and more.
