The Center for music and health in Oslo is very honored to invite everyone who is interested to Dr. Cheryl Dileo's presentation in the Auditorium at the Norwegian acedemy on October 22, at 13 -14 Hr.

The title  of her presentation is; “Musicians Working in Healthcare”.

About the presentation Cheryl says:  "This presentation will focus on the various ways that musicians are working with individuals who have a range of healthcare needs. Examples and categories of this work in the United States will be presented. Also, the need for specialized training for musicians to work in healthcare as well as the content of this training will be discussed. One model of training being done at the Arts and Quality of Life Research Center at Temple University will be presented. Finally, the I will comment on the health needs of musicians. "

Dr. Cheryl Dileo is Professor of Music Therapy, Coordinator of the Master's Program in Music Therapy, and Director of the new, interdisciplinary Arts and Quality of Life Research Center at Temple University in Philadelphia. She is a former McAndless Distinguished Professor and Chair in the Humanities of Eastern Michigan University and has taught at Loyola University of the South and the University of Evansville, where she founded the music therapy program. She developed and directs the Music Therapy Programs at Temple University Hospital and has worked as a music therapist at Compassionate Care Hospice. She is the author/editor of 12 books and over 90 journal articles and book chapters. She has lectured extensively in the US and around the world. Her research topics include: medical music therapy (oncology and cardiology), music therapy in palliative care, music therapy in pain and stress management, multicultural music therapy, international music therapy practice, education and training in music therapy and professional ethics. She is the recipient of the Award of Merit and the Distinguished Research/Publication Awards of the AMTA, and has recently received the Temple University Faculty Research Award. 

The Arts and Quality of Life Research Center at Temple University in Philadelphia promotes research, training, and innovative programs that demonstrate the unique role of the arts in making a difference in people’s lives.  To this end, it focuses on exploring uses of various creative arts to enhance human functioning, developmentally, intellectually, psychologically, socially, physically, aesthetically and spiritually.
